More Auto Sales Completed Over The Internet
May 22, 2007The power of the Internet should never be underestimated. And it can be seen through a report that was done by Borrell Associates. The report did say that more and more auto sales are going to be completed online. The group is even predicting that the auto industry is going to experience $31 billion worth in sales for the year 2007.
The report also does continue to inform the public that come 2010, the total amount could reach up to four billion dollars. Interestingly, compared to other media, internet marketing takes the second place and follows broadcast television. In fact, the group also does say that all other forms of media would be experiencing a decrease of 20% by 2010 when it comes to auto products advertising.
This sure is very interesting. Let’s all look into this and see if such predictions could be true. But looking at the wide coverage of the Internet, I would not be surprised if one day it would even surpass broadcast TV.
Tobacco Odor: Kick Them Out of Your Car
May 15, 2007
Don’t let your car be like a big stinking ash tray! I’m not saying that you’re not allowed to smoke inside because I myself indulge in that kind of habit. I know it’s kinda cool because it feels good when you’re having a long drive down the highway while puffing on your cigarette. But dude, it’s not cool when your car stinks! Right? Don’t wait for your date or girlfriend to say yuck! A great smelling car is a gorgeous car - always remember that.
If your car has turned into a smoke chamber or a car ash tray, maybe you’ll need to follow these easy steps on how to get rid of that tobacco smell. It’s easy as cleaning your Volvo head gasket or changing your Hummer car cover. I’m telling you it’s easy. Just do this steps and in less than an hour, you’ll have a heaven scented car right before your very nose!
Things You'll Need To Do The Job
- Carpet cleaner
- Air freshener
- Paper kitchen towels
- Fabric refresher
- Vacuum
- In-car air freshener
- Spray bottle
- Cleaner
Steps:
- Clean and vacuum your mats using a carpet cleaner. Although you can’t remove all the dirt or you might not be able to clean them at all, at least in a little way it helps lessen the smell.
- Spray the fabric refresher on all car fabrics. If there’s an antibacterial type of freshener available, it is much effective and these tend to work with smells better. Spray it on the seats, floor mats and even seatbelts.
- Clean out the car's ashtray as regular as possible. When you’re done cleaning with it, spray some ordinary air freshener into the ashtray and rub around with an absorbent kitchen paper. This will leave a thin layer of the air freshener in the ash tray. It's not enough for it to be flammable but enough to have a pleasant scent.
- For a heaven-like scent, make sure you have a hanging car freshener or one of those fan ones that clip onto the car's air vents. It’s not that expensive so better grab one!
- If the odor is particularly persistent, consider using a highly diluted cleaner spray (Lysol, very low concentration bleach water, etc) through the heater ducts. Do this by finding the air intake (naturally under the hood right close to the windshield) and, with the fan on in the car, spray with a water bottle. This will clean out some odor that's languished inside the ducts.
Additional Tips
- Don't use too strong a cleaner or you could ruin your upholstery or dash
- Test all cleaners in an discreet place first.

It is advisable because it records your car’s performance and improvements and it is safer at the same time. You can evaluate the difference between the upgraded version of your car and its previous performance before having it done with the upgrading.
How Important Is It To Inspect Your Car Regularly?
April 28, 2007
Why do you need to inspect your car parts regularly? Well, of course, to maintain their full function and normal state. You also have to make sure they are functioning well. Of course, when you are traveling everyday, you don’t want to drive down the road and then your car suddenly stops due to car parts that malfunction, right? Anyway, car inspection is just simple. I have provided you with simple tips on how you can inspect your car effectively. Here, check out these simple tips.
Before you leave your house, make sure to check the following:
- Does you car have enough gas?
- Is your engine okay? Check the engine by starting the vehicle.
- Check for a dead battery.
- Are your tires well inflated and wheels free of any damage?
- Check if your engines are alright and free from experiencing over heat.
If all these are in good condition, then you can now leave the house knowing that you will be traveling safe. However, we cannot do away with bad luck sometimes, especially when your car is old, some of its performance parts are not functioning well. You might experience engine shut off or your engine may overheat.
To avoid this there are also some preventive measures here. Check on them.
- You need to have your engine check by a mechanic periodically. I mean check whether it starts or it has problems that signal trouble.
- Check if there is spot damage, if tires are not well inflated or unusual wear which leads to tire malfunction.
- Your cooling system also needs a seasonal check up to avoid breakdowns during a drive.
- The gas gauge also needs constant attention. Make sure the tank is always half full all the time as it protects it from condensation inside the tank. Also check for leaks and freezes as it can cause a big trouble in your car.
But just incase you did all these and still you want to secure your travel, you might consider purchasing a cellular phone or a CB radio. They are necessary especially in a long travel. If you met a car breakdown on a road where help is impossible, cell phones or radios are helpful at these times. Move your car in a safe place and turn the emergency flasher on. Stay inside the car until a help comes. Keep the door locked.
Steps on How to Change Radiator Fluid
April 20, 2007
Having a car gives you a big responsibility on maintaining its physical condition. We can’t afford to have a malfunctioned car so we better give our tender loving care to our very own vehicles by giving our one hundred percent attention and providing the proper methods in car maintenance as well.
You want your car to last longer do you? So better listen up and learn one of the easy ways of preserving your car’s life.
Every year, make sure to change the fluids on your radiator. It is very important to replace your old coolant in your car’s cooling parts and system especially when it starts to become the cold season and every two years in moderate weather. If you are a nice owner or caring enough for your car, doing this would definitely bring back the new car kind of flavor to you!
A well-conditioned car is a good auto performance car! Here are the easy steps on how to change radiator fluid.
First, you have to drain your cooling system. Following these steps, draining will be over in no time! But first you need to prepare the tools needed in this process.
What do you do? All of these steps, by the way, are courtesy of www.ehow.com. I felt like I was not doing much justice if I changed the way they set out these steps.
1. When the engine is cold, open the radiator cap.
2. Below the front of the car, crawl down and locate the bottom of the radiator. Look for the radiator “drain cock” or known as the “radiator petcock”. Drain cock is distinguished as a small plug or a bolt with a T-shape located just underneath the radiator. Sometimes it is made of plastic.
3. Put a big pan - 5 gallons will do- under the radiator. Open the drain cock using your hand or an fitting-size wrench. Allow the radiator to drain into the pan.
4. Close the drain cock.
5. Refill the radiator with water until the water is at the top of the radiator or just visible.
6. Return the cap.
7. Turn on the engine for 5 minutes; let it run to circulate and move the fresh water.
8. Turn off the engine, let it to cool slightly and repeat steps 1 through 4.
Tips & Warnings
Now let’s proceed to the steps on how to add the coolant to your cars cooling system:
1. Add a mixture of 1/2 water and 1/2 antifreeze to the radiator. Fill it right up to the top.
2. Fill the overflow/coolant reservoir with the same 50-50 mixture.
3. Leave the radiator cap off, turn the engine on, and let it run until the radiator “burps.” There may be pockets of air trapped in the system: You’ll see the coolant level drop and may see a large air bubble come to the top as the system burps. Be sure to keep an eye on the temperature gauge throughout this process.
4. Refill the radiator to the top and the coolant reservoir as needed.
5. Put the radiator cap back on.
6. Add more coolant if the engine runs hot after this procedure - there may have been another pocket of air that burped.
7. Put the old coolant and water in plastic jugs using a funnel.
8. Dispose of coolant properly - don’t pour it down the drain or sewer. Many service stations, repair shops and parts stores will take it so it can be recycled, or you can take it to a recycling center.
Tips & Warnings: Cats and dogs like the sweet taste of antifreeze. Don’t leave it around where they can drink it - it can kill them.
Tips on How to Remove Minor Scratches in Your Car
April 4, 2007
We care for our car the same as the kind of love that we’re giving to our women or our wives. Admit it big boys!
Or sometimes you love the car more than anything else, because it’s your baby, Christine, Eleanor and other girly names you want to name your car, right?
Yeah, I confess I’m like that too, but not as exaggerated as you may think. For me, my car reflects my very own personality.
So, if someone sees your car with a dazzling and clean look, your car will be admired and of course you’ll get the compliments too. It feels great, doesn’t it? Especially when the admiration comes from a woman!
So what shall we do to remove all the unnecessary elements in our car? What are the steps in bringing back the spark to your exterior car parts? Especially if they now come minor scratches!
These scratches might appear unnoticeable, but it’s much better if we get rid of them to make our babies look more gorgeous and neat. I think I have some ideas to share that could be of help to all you. It’s easy and it only takes two steps! Try this.
First, use a polishing compound to buff up the scratches. This compound (for everybody’s information) contains an abrasive which is fairly mild that takes off just a little bit of coat from the paintjob (don’t be too protective, I said “just a little” okay?). Always remember when purchasing this kind of stuff, make sure to get the product with the finest abrasive available (there are few grades to choose from).
For your next move, get your polishing compound and place a little amount onto a damp sponge or a piece of cloth (100% cotton, don’t forget that!) and rub the damaged area in circular motion until the scratches are gone. Warning: don’t over do it because it might remove more than a little coat. You know what I mean, right?
After that, wash it off completely that part which has the scratch. I suggest you try it first in a small area so that you can master the process.
Now it’s time to apply the liquid wax as our last step. Squeeze a little amount of wax onto a sponge and spread thoroughly on the scratched area. Just wait for a few minutes. Allow the stuff to haze, then after that happens, with the use of a soft towel, polish the wax.
Tadah! A dazzling scratch-less car! It’s easy, do it to your baby now. Just rub it in and it’s done!

Surviving In A Car That Breaks Down
March 28, 2007If you have old cars, you must know how to handle break downs as such kinds of vehicles are the ones which usually experience such car problems. The latest cars are very reliable that they don’t usually break down and get you stranded you that often.
However, there are several chances that your modern car might get stranded sometimes, especially if the wheels are unprepared. So before you hit that ride to that lonely mountain top or on an empty desert, there are certain actions that you need to do to avoid being stranded.
Here is a self-help guide for you from ehow.com. Read on and learn.
1. The first thing you need to do is to pack your emergency kit.
2. Then you must learn the basics on car repairing which includes connecting the battery, checking the radiator fluid and oil and tire changing. These are the possible reasons why your car would jam. So if you want to drive without any destruction, better make sure that you check them out and do the task of checking well.
3. If you get caught up in a car jam and you don’t know where to find help, the best thing to do would be to stay inside your car. Rescuers are usually looking for your car not you alone. You will only risk yourself and possibly get into much trouble especially during bad weather.
4. If you get stuck on a desert area, you have to conserve water. If there is no shade, get inside the car. And during the day, find a shade where you can keep yourself from too much heat of the sun. Keep your water in a safe and clean place and avoid excessive drinking. You might run out of water when you need it the most. It is also important not to drink from any source of water inside your car. These can be filled with chemicals that might harm your health.
5. Make yourself and your car visible to the rescuers. You can open the car’s hood to identify that you are in trouble. If it is snowing, remove the snow from you car from time to time and wave your hands up on your head if the is an airplane or a chopper that pass by your location.
6. Never flaunt your intelligence if you are caught up in a situation like this. This time, you need help and you need anybody to rescue you so it is not the right time to choose. But don’t ask for help on a single man. Try looking for a group or a family that can help you. Be honest about your situation. Tell them that you are in bad need of help. Many people are only taking precautions so they will be skeptical and wary at first. They may think that you are just a scam artist. So be understanding. Remember that you are asking a favor.
7. Don’t panic but stay cool rather. Be observant with your environment. Look out for dangers like wild animals such as snakes and lions that may surround you especially if you got jammed near a forest. Protect yourself from harm by arming protective weapons.
If you have a cellular phone with you, call for help. You can join an automobile club such as the AAA or subscribe a roadside assistance program on your cellular service. Carry a locator system like Personal Locator Beacon (PLB). This is gadget that can locate you anywhere you go by means of an emergency signal that broadcast your exact location. These gadgets are available online or on your nearest store so better get one before you have that long travel with your car.
So there you have it folks. Follow the steps and tips carefully so you will save your life. Well, just in case you get jammed.
Avoiding Street Crimes
March 26, 2007
You don’t want your car to be stolen, do you? But with the present times, car jackers, car thefts and other street criminals are anywhere. Antitheft devices are now available as a simple car part but this only makes the stolen car more expensive when it is sold.
Most car jackers and thieves are gun or knife armed. They can steal 10 cars a day without having to break into a sweat. Big money and stiff felony charges give carjackers little incentive to avoid violence and murder this is the reason why they are one among the most dangerous criminals on our streets today.
But ehow.com gives some tips on how you can be saved from being a victim. Read on and learn about how you can avoid street crimes.
Instructions:
1. There are two categories of car jacking. There are car jacks that occur while cars are stopped on roadways - at lights, stop signs or before turns. Most, though, take place in parking lots when the drivers are entering or exiting their cars. Half of all these attempts to carjack a car succeed.
2. Think about your safety because it is what matters. Whenever you are approached by car jackers, give your car and run immediately. If you see them coming, throw away the keys and run in the different direction. Never attempt to do things that will provoke the road criminals. Keep in mind that they are armed and that they travel in groups. Your safety is the only thing that matters.
3. Drive when you need to drive and avoid entertaining phone calls or even turning the radio on. Car jackers, thieves and rapists target those who are distracted. So, pay attention to your surroundings instead. Make sure you are looking between cars. Know your destination exactly, down to the door that you will enter once you get to your destination.
4. After feeling secure, park your car where there is light found and where there are as many people if possible. Avoid wedging your car into tight spaces that provide no escape route for you. Look around once again before leaving your car.
5. If you are going to exit using your vehicle, make sure to walk away quickly. Make sure you also locked the door of your car and immediately approach a well lighted area. A place where many people are found is also a good place to stay.
6. Follow the same process when you go back to your car. Always have your keys in your hands so it is always ready to be used. Get into your car, lock it, turn it on, and get going. Don’t hang around. Locked doors don’t stop guns. You’re not really out of carjacking danger until you’re moving at about 15 miles per hour.
7. If your car needs to stop for signs, turns and lights, make sure you are giving your car enough space especially if you are in between of vehicles. You will be avoiding from being trapped if a car jacker approaches. Then if a car jacker approaches, you can leave the car easily.
There you have it guys. So it’s easy to run away from those road criminals. You only need to know the effective steps to avoid getting across and meet them. Follow the simple tips and stay safe.
Fill Your Car With Bumper Stickers
March 20, 2007
Not.
Oh please. I’m sure you can put in one or two of them but not exactly fill up the whole exterior of your car with tons of bumper stickers holding different statements and various sentiments.
I’m writing about bumper stickers because I found it quite amazing just how people can tell other people what they really feel through these sticky things. And so I collected some of the best stickers I’ve read (so far) when I go driving.
Tips On Buying A Body Kit
March 15, 2007
Why do you need a body kit anyway? Of course, if you wish to customize the look of your car, you don’t need a Westin to aid you in enhancing the appearance of your car. You sure would also neither be looking for carburetors. What you would be after would be a body kit. It doesn’t only improve the looks of your vehicle but it also works on your car’s performance as well.
If you wish to alter the looks of your car, you might need to buy a body kit. You need to learn something before purchasing a body kit. Read on. ehow.com got something just especially for you.
Tips:
1. You must understand that the body kit may include ground effects. Typically, it is an air dam and side skirts that fit around the bottom edges of a vehicle so as to alter the airflow that would then improve the down force. It also makes the car look much lower to the ground.
2. Body kits include the wing spoiler. Usually, the front spoiler is positioned under the front bumper to reduce aerodynamic drag. The rear spoiler is also used to create down force to help increase traction during acceleration.
3. Then you need to decide on what kind of material you want your kit to be constructed of. There are basically two types of material options - the fiberglass and the urethane. A kit using fiberglass fits better and can be repaired if you ever damage a piece. It also has a better finish than urethane. See, the paint will look better if you use fiberglass. Urethane is much more resistant to soft impacts but it can’t be repaired once it’s damaged.
4. You can always ask the manufacturer about their materials they use as well as the warranty of these items. Or if you will need to remove the factory installed car parts, you can also ask for more information from the manufacturer so you can fit the kit properly. If the factory car part needs to be removed, never purchase the body kit. Never purchase a kit that requires removal of any pieces from the safety structure of your car.
5. Always look for the quality. Remember that what you are spending is your own money therefore you need to check the quality of your body kit. Cheap kits usually wear out that easily. There’s the high quality U.S.-made fiberglass resin. You must choose a kit according to your budget. Decide on how much you are willing to invest in these body kits.
Urethane is the kit of choice if you are living on a rough or snowy area. Go for fiberglass if you live in an area where the roads are smooth and the weather is decent.
Happy searching and may you have the kind of car that you like.
Looking for Hard-To-Find Car Parts?
March 8, 2007
Is your Chevy door handle already worn out? But you are now finding it really hard to look for an original replacement? If your Chevy parts are not working well and you need to replace it, worry no more, as ehow.com bring you tips on looking for hard-to-find car parts.
Sometimes, we cannot deny that finding car parts is sometimes taking us too long. However, you may need to know a simple step by step guide to help you out on your quest for those elusive car parts. Here is what you can do:
1. You need to be aware of the exact car parts you are looking for. You also have to know the exact shape of the car parts you are purchasing including the size. Also keep in mind just how much you are willing to spend for that car part. If it is hard for you to find the original parts, rebuilt, reconstructed or remanufactured car parts will help you save money especially if those are the parts available for the replacement ones you need.
2. If you have done browsing both paid and free classified pages of your newspaper and checking the local car parts stores, you still may not find the car parts that you need. Why? This is because some sellers offer cars for parts - a good source if you have a popular, hard-to-shop-for car. These good sources of the parts you need usually advertise in the papers but aren’t listed in the phone directory.
3. Root around a local scrap yard for a forgotten gem (look under “Salvage” in the Yellow Pages). There are plenty of those forgotten vehicles lying around there.
4. Check with local shops that work on your model car and that might be able to recommend a source for the elusive part.
5. You can also talk to the nearest local dealer who sells your car’s make and model, if it’s a new car.
6. You can visit an online forum and ask help from other forumers about the car parts you need to look for. Read car oriented magazines with classified ads.
7. Scour Internet auction sites, online search services and bulletin boards. Check back often, as new items are listed frequently. An Internet auto parts locator service will put you in contact with dealers and private sellers for a fee.
8. Find out if you can use parts from another model car on yours. Companies like the Hollander Interchange (hollander-auto-parts.com) have manuals ($25 to more than $100) that identify interchangeable mechanical and body parts on foreign and domestic vehicles - including trucks - dating back to the 1920s.
You also need to look through these to get to your needed car parts:
You must remember that original parts from car aficionados or dealers probably cost more, however, they are of best quality and guaranteed to work well. If you are looking for car parts, saving money must not be your first priority, since most cheap car parts are easily worn out, making you spend more dollars over buying over and over again.
Tips and Tricks on Fixing a Malfunctioning Car Fuse
February 24, 2007
Do you know the importance of the fuses you find in your car? Well, the fuse is that one that protects your car from electrical short circuits and power overloads. You see, when such things happen, it can actually damage some of the performance parts of your car or even start a fire. You must protect your fuses from overloading with power as it may blow and cause the malfunction of your auto body parts. You can replace a bad fuse with a new one to solve the problem. However, if the fuse continuous to blow, you might need to consider visiting a mechanic or a professional technician.
But you can change the fuse of you own vehicle manually. You don’t know how? Don’t worry. ehow.com have prepared a list of special tips and tricks for you. So read on and learn how you can change the faulty fuse of your car.
Instructions:
1. Find the fuse box. It is usually located under the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel, at about knee level. Many cars have additional fuse boxes in the engine compartment. Check your owner’s manual or call the dealer for the exact location(s).
2. Open the fuse box cover and locate the blown fuse. There are two ways to find the bad fuse: Look for a fuse with a melted center strip. Or, if you know which device isn’t working–for example, the radio–look for the fuse that handles that device. The fuse panel may have labels for each device, or the information may be in your owner’s manual.
3. Remove the bad fuse with a fuse puller (a small pair of plastic tweezers that should come with the fuse box). Or use a pair of needle-nose pliers.
4. Check the number on the bottom or side of the bad fuse. This indicates the amperage.
5. Buy a new fuse with the same amperage and push it into the slot in the fuse box with your fingers.
Fuses are both available on the stores near your area and online. You can keep some fuses in your car compartment just incase you accidentally need one. Never change your fuse with larger amperage as it damages the device the fuse is meant to protect.
The Proper Way To Change Your Fuel Filter
February 13, 2007
You might wonder why your car suddenly loses its power when your engine and tires are all in good condition. I have read from ehow.com that changing the fuel parts and the fuel filter can give your car more power and in the process give you a faster ride and better fuel efficiency. Aside from that, if you know how to change your own car’s fuel filter, you can save up from spending much by having a mechanic do the task. You are not only giving your car cleaner powertrain parts but you are also saving money. So, read on and learn these simple steps on how to change your car’s fuel filters the proper way.
Follow these simple steps:
1. Put on your protective glasses and gather your tools. An assortment of wrenches and screwdrivers are necessary. The ones you use will depend upon the vehicle.
2. Elevate the vehicle. This can be done by using a jack and jack stands, or drive-up ramps. Do not rely solely on a single jack, as this is very dangerous.
3. Find the fuel filter. The location varies from vehicle to vehicle. It’s a safe bet to start your search near the fuel tank under the body. You can also reference your owner’s manual or call your local dealership.
4. Remove the protective covering that guards the fuel filter. Most filters have some kind of plastic covering over them to prevent damage, and can be removed by a common wrench, hex wrench, or screwdriver.
5. Remove the fuel lines attached to the fuel filter. There are a number of ways these hoses might be linked to the pump, such as links, brackets or clips. Use either a screwdriver or wrench, whichever the attachments require.
6. Cap the fuel lines with a pencil or golf tee, and keep them tilted toward the drainage canister.
7. Remove the fuel filter from the assembly, noting which way it was oriented. An arrow will likely be on the filter. It should be pointed toward the engine, and away from the fuel tank.
8. Install you new fuel filter. Be sure that it is oriented so the fuel arrow points toward the engine.
9. Reattach the hoses and guard.
Make sure to keep in mind these simple warnings as well:

Learning How To Describe Car Noises
January 31, 2007
A car sure does make some kind of noise when something has gone wrong or has gone haywire. And when it comes to diagnosing which part of your vehicle needs to have a check up, you would have to rely on the kind of noise that you are hearing. That clanking noise might be the Borla exhaust gone loose.
You may have to bring your car to a certified technician or mechanic to make your driving smoother (and quieter). But you still have to go through the trouble of describing the kind of noise that you have been hearing so as to help the expert diagnose what is troubling your vehicle.

January 11, 2007Original factory speakers may be worn out after several years of use and if you’re a music buff, you absolutely need to replace these with new and functional units. But how are you going to choose new speakers for you car stereo? Follow these simple steps and tips:
- The original speakers in most cars aren't very good. If you've already replaced the original radio in your car and you want to improve the sound even more, replace the factory speakers.
- Before you go out for shopping, you have to measure the length and the width of your speakers. Or if you cannot measure the original speakers, bring it to the shop. Then bring without you your favorite Audio CD or tape to test if you like the sound coming from the new speakers you are eying.
- Choose the speaker that will fit your car and your budget. Ask the sales person to test the speaker in your car and play the CD or tape you brought along with you. Then make sure that the sales person doesn’t run the speaker using an amplifier as it changes the sound of.
- Avoid speakers with heavy magnets. Larger magnets don’t mean they are better speakers. Usually, an average car cannot run speakers with heavy magnets.
- When you finally decide on the speaker to purchase, check the package before leaving the store. Make sure everything included in the package is inside the box. Check for the following parts: speakers, screws, grille, speaker wire, owner's manual, installation instructions and warranty.
Now, you are ready to use your new speakers. Just make sure you take good care of you new speakers. Meanwhile, if your car parts need replacements, auto stores are available online.

Sorry, Officer, I didn't realize my radar detector wasn't plugged in.
-
Aren't you the guy from the Village People?

I thought you had to be in relatively good physical condition to be a police officer.
-
Bad cop! No doughnut!
-
You're not gonna check the trunk, are you?
-
Gee, that gut sure doesn't inspire confidence.
-
Didn't I see you get your butt kicked on Cops?

So, uh, you on the take or what?

Gee, Officer! That's terrific! The last officer only gave me a warning, too!

Do you know why you pulled me over? Okay, just so one of us does.

5 Gas Saving Tips
December 22, 2006You have finished buying gifts for your family and friends and now you're broke. Now what? Well, here are some gas saving tips you can use that just might pull you out of the red this holiday season:
1. Drive smartly
Many car owners don't know this but by simply driving efficiently, they can save a lot of money. Driving at a moderate pace can improve your gas mileage by up to 37% so avoid aggressive driving and observe legal speed limits.
2. Tune up regularly
Change your oil and air filters when needed, and use only motor oil recommended by the car manufacturer. Make sure that your tires are properly inflated to improve traction on the road and reduce strain on your engines.
3. Lighten the load
Remember that the heavier the car, the more gas it consumes so get rid of the bulky and unnecessary items from the trunk or inside your car. As a bonus, your car will look tidier without the clutter.
4. Plan your trip
A longer trip combining several errands lessens the times you need to warm up your car's engine and this will definitely save you time and money.
5. Walk
The surest way to save gas is not driving your car so when your destination is only a block away, just walk. The exercise will do you good.
So there you have it folks. If you know other fuel saving tips, put them on the comment section.
Happy Christmas everyone!
Winter Driving!
December 21, 2006Yey, it's Christmas once again! Feel the holiday spirit? No? Haha, I think most people don't. Anyway, if you drive and live in a place where it's winter, please be extra careful when driving. You don't want to greet the New Year with bruises and broken bones. Here's some winter driving tips just to serve as reminders. After all, you can never have too much reminders when driving safety is concerned, right? Right.
1. Always turn on your lights.
Turning on your lights increases your visibility to other drivers, so there's less chance of you crashing into them or them crashing into you.
2. Slow down.
Winter means lots of ice covering the highway, and this means slippery roads. No matter how late you are, lessen the speed and don't haste, as speeding on slippery highways is like suicide already. Leave plenty of room to stop.
3. Be careful when driving on bridges and overpasses.
These freeze first. Even when temperatures are above freezing, if the road is wet, you may encounter ice in shady areas.
4. Check on the weather.
Always monitor weather reports whether on the tv, radio, internet or newspapers before travelling so you'll be aware of coming storms and other environmental hazards.
5. Check your car.
Your car should have a tune-up before you travel miles. If it is an especially long trip, it is better to have a professional mechanic take a look, especially on the vital parts like the brakes, ignition, wiring, and fan belts. Test the battery as well, change the spark plugs and check the tires for air, wear and tread depth. Since it's winter, it's also vital to inspect the antifreeze levels and the freeze line of your car.
