"You can't see anything from a car; you've got to get out of the goddamn contraption and walk, better yet crawl, on hands and knees, over the sandstone and through the thornbrush and cactus. When traces of blood begin to mark your trail, you'll see something, maybe." ~ Ed Abbey

How Important Is It To Inspect Your Car Regularly?

April 28, 2007

Why do you need to inspect your car parts regularly? Well, of course, to maintain their full function and normal state. You also have to make sure they are functioning well. Of course, when you are traveling everyday, you don’t want to drive down the road and then your car suddenly stops due to car parts that malfunction, right? Anyway, car inspection is just simple. I have provided you with simple tips on how you can inspect your car effectively. Here, check out these simple tips.

Before you leave your house, make sure to check the following:

  • Does you car have enough gas?
  • Is your engine okay? Check the engine by starting the vehicle.
  • Check for a dead battery.
  • Are your tires well inflated and wheels free of any damage?
  • Check if your engines are alright and free from experiencing over heat.

If all these are in good condition, then you can now leave the house knowing that you will be traveling safe. However, we cannot do away with bad luck sometimes, especially when your car is old, some of its performance parts are not functioning well. You might experience engine shut off or your engine may overheat.

To avoid this there are also some preventive measures here. Check on them.

  • You need to have your engine check by a mechanic periodically. I mean check whether it starts or it has problems that signal trouble.
  • Check if there is spot damage, if tires are not well inflated or unusual wear which leads to tire malfunction.
  • Your cooling system also needs a seasonal check up to avoid breakdowns during a drive.
  • The gas gauge also needs constant attention. Make sure the tank is always half full all the time as it protects it from condensation inside the tank. Also check for leaks and freezes as it can cause a big trouble in your car.

But just incase you did all these and still you want to secure your travel, you might consider purchasing a cellular phone or a CB radio. They are necessary especially in a long travel. If you met a car breakdown on a road where help is impossible, cell phones or radios are helpful at these times. Move your car in a safe place and turn the emergency flasher on. Stay inside the car until a help comes. Keep the door locked.
