"You can't see anything from a car; you've got to get out of the goddamn contraption and walk, better yet crawl, on hands and knees, over the sandstone and through the thornbrush and cactus. When traces of blood begin to mark your trail, you'll see something, maybe." ~ Ed Abbey

January 11, 2007

Original factory speakers may be worn out after several years of use and if you’re a music buff, you absolutely need to replace these with new and functional units. But how are you going to choose new speakers for you car stereo? Follow these simple steps and tips:

  • The original speakers in most cars aren't very good. If you've already replaced the original radio in your car and you want to improve the sound even more, replace the factory speakers.
  • Before you go out for shopping, you have to measure the length and the width of your speakers. Or if you cannot measure the original speakers, bring it to the shop. Then bring without you your favorite Audio CD or tape to test if you like the sound coming from the new speakers you are eying.

  • Choose the speaker that will fit your car and your budget. Ask the sales person to test the speaker in your car and play the CD or tape you brought along with you. Then make sure that the sales person doesn’t run the speaker using an amplifier as it changes the sound of.

  • Avoid speakers with heavy magnets. Larger magnets don’t mean they are better speakers. Usually, an average car cannot run speakers with heavy magnets.
  • When you finally decide on the speaker to purchase, check the package before leaving the store. Make sure everything included in the package is inside the box. Check for the following parts: speakers, screws, grille, speaker wire, owner's manual, installation instructions and warranty.

Now, you are ready to use your new speakers. Just make sure you take good care of you new speakers. Meanwhile, if your car parts need replacements, auto stores are available online.
